Economics of Conflict | The Price of War Symposium
About the Symposium
The Price of War Symposium is the CERGE-EI Foundation’s flagship annual conference on conflict economics. Since its launch in 2022, the event has convened leading economists, policymakers, business leaders, diplomats, and journalists to examine how wars and geopolitical crises reshape economies, societies, and institutions.

Held yearly in the late autumn in London, the symposium provides an independent platform for evidence-based debate on the costs of conflict, strategies for resilience, and the long-term policy implications for Europe and beyond. By bringing together diverse voices from academia, government, media, and the private sector, The Price of War reflects the Foundation’s mission to connect high-quality economic expertise with pressing challenges in our region.

Why it Matters
The economic impact of war is felt far beyond the battlefield — through disrupted supply chains, financial instability, refugee flows, and the erosion of democratic institutions. By hosting this symposium, the Foundation seeks to elevate the role of economic analysis in public debates, inspire new research, and provide practical insights for leaders navigating uncertainty.
