Economics of Conflict | The Price of War Symposium

About the Symposium

The Price of War Symposium is the CERGE-EI Foundation's flagship annual conference on conflict economics. Launched in 2022, the symposium has brought together leading economists, policymakers, business leaders, diplomats, and journalists to examine how war and geopolitical crises reshape economies, societies, and institutions.

Held each autumn in London, the symposium provides an independent platform for evidence-based debate on the costs of conflict, strategies for resilience, and the long-term policy implications for Europe and beyond. By convening voices from academia, government, media, and the private sector, The Price of War reflects the Foundation's mission to connect high-quality economic expertise with the most pressing challenges facing the region.

Why it Matters

War reshapes economies long after the fighting ends, disrupting supply chains, destabilizing financial systems, driving refugee flows, and undermining democratic institutions. Through this symposium, the Foundation seeks to strengthen the role of economic analysis in public debate, catalyze new research, and offer practical guidance for decision-makers facing uncertainty.
